Welcome to the Rockford Photo Club Website. We have made it to June. I must say this beautiful weather we are having is making it hard to forget that horrible polar vortex of last winter. We have had some great weather to shoot some great pictures so I am hoping everyone is out shooting.
So far we have had two contests - both very successful - be sure to check out the winning photos in the newsletter and on the website. I am very pleased with how the membership has stepped up their photography. We have so many talented photographers of all different skill levels.
We have also worked with the community these past 6 months as we had a winter photo walk that we assisted with at Klehm Aroretum. We are anticipating another photo walk this summer in July. We thank Lundgrens Camera in Rockford, Camera Craft in Rockford, Klehm Arboretum in Rockford and Image N That, all businesses in Rockford that have helped us out and partnered with. It, to me, is exciting to see the growth in our club - the interest in photography in the area and the social aspect of the members. This year we continue to have many exciting things planned and hope to continue the club outings on weekends and evenings. It's never too late to get interested in photography. No matter what kind of camera you have, you can find a place in our club. Amidst the many changes in the photgraphy world, the club will continue it's two-contest-categories, realistic and enhanced. This will encompass the many talents in our club. Whether you are professional or amateur, you are welcome to join us. The club has been around since 1947 and since then, the club has been helping members improve their photography as well as enhance their photography. The objective of our club is to improve our photography and to appreciate photography as an art. With the addition of the two different contest categories last year, we have seen a huge improvement and more participants. The two categories gives the photographer who wants to use his camera as the instrument to take the best photos he/she can without enhancing in Photoshop the chance to compete equally while the photographer whose talent and creativity in Photoshop or Lightroom can also compete equally amongst similar photographs. Surveys amongst club members indicate that it has been great having the choices.
The Rockford Photo Club generally holds it's meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. We currently meet in the lower level meeting room of the Riverfront Museum Park Building, 711 North Main Street, Rockford. We welcome visitors as well as new members. Come and check us out!
